What our client wanted
Our client from Hassocks came to us with a clear sense of style, referencing a previous Cine Spark media wall they had seen and admired. They shared a photograph of that project along with their own drawings to help us understand the space and layout.
The existing wall featured pillars of varying depth, and the client wanted to notch storage cabinetry around these at lower level, while keeping clean, flush shelving above. The key challenge was to create something visually balanced and spacious, without being restricted by the wall’s asymmetry.

The design process
We collaborated closely with the client to build upon their original sketches. After discussing furniture placement, viewing angles, and traffic flow, we agreed the best approach would be to off-centre the media wall, placing it in direct line with the main sofa and leaving a gap on the left side.
How we refined the design:
Built base-level storage around the left pillar for practical use
Concealed the pillar completely within the cabinetry for a seamless finish
Maintained visual balance by leaving the far left side of the media wall blank with no shelving
Integrated Philips Hue LED strip lighting into the shelves, and synced it with the client’s Philips Hue ceiling track light for a complete lighting experience
Designed and installed classic shaker-style cupboards fitted with push-to-open mechanisms for a clean, handle-free finish
The CAD drawings helped finalise proportion, alignment, and the lighting setup before build.
Building the media wall
Our team paid close attention to the challenges of the room, especially the integration of the hidden pillar and the off-centre layout. Every line had to be precise to achieve a look that felt deliberate and symmetrical, even though the structure itself was asymmetrical.
Installing the Philips Hue lighting required careful coordination, ensuring everything synced perfectly with the client's existing smart technology. The push-to-open shaker cabinetry added timeless charm without interrupting the clean lines of the upper shelving.

The Finished Media Wall
The result is a stunning, off-centre media wall that looks balanced and beautiful from every angle.
By embracing the room’s architectural quirks and combining them with clever design choices, we created a statement wall that feels naturally part of the space.
The concealed pillar, layered storage, and ambient lighting create an experience that’s both functional and atmospheric. And with the TV now perfectly positioned opposite the main sofa, the room flows more intuitively than ever.
